- 5 Skin Infections -
1) Impetigo -
Impetigo is a highly contagious skin infection. This infection is caused by staphylococcus aureus ( a type of bacteria). This infection is commonly found in children accounting for 70% cases. Impetigo starts looking like a sore spot then can appear like a scab. The skin is patchy and red and can be very itchy however wont be very sore.
2) Acne -
Acne is most commonly seen on teenagers.Acne is caused when the pores on your skin become blocked by oil, bacteria and dirt. Although Acne is not a life threatening disorder on severe occasions the skin can become very painful and cause a distress the patient. Acne can be very hard to get to remove as bacteria grows and spreads across the skin in the clogged up pore therefore the oil is unable to escape.
3) Ring worm -

Ring worm is an infectious skin infection creating a red ring onto the body caused by a fungus. The rash can appear anywhere across the body such as scalp, feet and groin being the most popular areas. This infection isn't life threatening or remotely serious and can be treated using various creams sold at your local drug store. However this infection can be very contagious and can spread across a wide range of people.
4) Ecthyma -
Ecthyma is a cutaneous infection where the skin is very dry, flakey and crusted with many scabby areas onto the skin. Ecthyma usually begins to look like a tender ulcer however gets crusty and scabby. This skin disease is most often seen in young children and the elderly. The two most common areas of the skin where you can find ecthyma is the face and legs. To remove the disease you are most commonly given penicillin. Although this disease is harmless it is best to remove the illness to prevent the disease from spreading. This infection can spread through bad hygiene such as footwear or clothing
5) Warts -
Warts are a very popular skin disease which can be seen on 10% of the population. Their are many different types of warts, hyperkeratonic which is the most popular is a flesh colored wart which can be seen in the image above. Warts can take up to 2-9 months to begin to appear onto the skin. To treat this disease application of acids such as trichloroacetic, salicylic and podophyllin can be applied for removal however if their is still a failure for these warts to dissapear you can use laser therapy or an injection with canidida antigen can be used. This skin infection is harmless and isn't harmful to the skin however can be contagious and easily spread around the body.
