

Within this lesson we learned about subtle and heavy contouring. This picture is an example of heavy contouring of the cheek bones. As you can see the jaw line is very defined. To create this look you use the darker shade of brown under the jawline and blend it out with a lighter shade of that colour (in this case a lighter brown). The lighter shade gradually blending towards the cheek and around the face. This will make your natural shadows of the face stand out much more. Contouring is used to shape the face and bring out the natural highlights and shadows of the face.
I practiced this look on my friends to perfect this technique. I also found this you tube video by Illamasqua very useful and help my understanding of using this technique.
