Contemporary and traditional - Elizabethan Makeup -

Contemporary image -

Within this image you can easily see the representations of Queen Elizabeth in this image. For example the red hair, the hair shape, pale skin, removal of the eyebrows, pale white skin, red lips/ cheeks and the high neckline of the clothing. The hair has also been removed from the forehead representing the high forehead queen Elizabeth had. Although this image has a lot of representation to the Elizabethan era there are many distinctive ways its not. These includes the replacement of the eyebrows of the white lines going across the forehead around the eyes forming a heart shape. The scales across the forehead and eyes make this image a modern representation of the era.

Traditional image -

This image is traditional image within the Elizabethan era. The pale face, pink cheeks, red lips, high headline and removal of the eye brows were all very popular in the era. Padding has been included in the hair to create volume. Jewels, diamonds and pearls have been place in the hair much like the high class people had. The clothing and ruffles around the neck was also seen in many of Queen Elizabeth's portraits.
